The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Excused: None. Representative Farhat moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 20, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4885 and HB 4923 before the committee: HB 4885 (Rep. McKinney) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 21907, 21909, 21911, 21913, 21915, 21919, 21921, and 21923 (MCL 333.21907, 333.21909, 333.21911, 333.21913, 333.21915, 333.21919, 333.21921, and 333.21923), sections 21907, 21909, 21913, 21915, 21919, 21921, and 21923 as added by 2017 PA 172 and section 21911 as amended by 2022 PA 79, and by adding sections 21912, 21916, 21918, and 21920. HB 4923 (Rep. Aragona) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 21903 and 21905 (MCL 333.21903 and 333.21905), as added by 2017 PA 172. VanderWall) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending section 17609 (MCL 333.17609), as amended by 2010 PA 304. Representative VanderWall and Kelli Pierce, representing the Michigan Speech-Language- Hearing Association, testified together in support of HB 4101. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4101, but did not wish to speak: Elizabeth Kutter, representing the Michigan Health and Hospital Association. Marnie Triemstra, representing the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. The Chair laid SB 384 before the committee: SB 384 (Sen. Hertel) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding sections 3406z, 3901a, and 4002. Kelly Stec, Chief of Staff for Senator Hertel, testified in support of SB 384. Dr. Mona Doshi, representing the University of Michigan, testified in support of SB 384. Erich Ditschman, representing himself and the National Kidney Foundation, testified in support of SB 384. David Galbeski and Mark Dybis, representing themselves, testified in support of SB 384.
