NATE SHANNON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 3, 2023 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure was called to order by Chair Shannon. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Coleman, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from September 26, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4845 before the committee: HB 4845 (Rep. Bruck) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092) by adding section 103a. Representative Kunse moved to report out HB 4845 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Coleman, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid SB 22 before the committee: SB 22 (Sen. Damoose) A bill to amend 1945 PA 327, entitled "Aeronautics code of the state of Michigan," by amending section 80f (MCL 259.80f), as added by 2001 PA 225. Representative Bruck moved to report out SB 22 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Representative Price, joined by Pastor Dietrich Tupper and Linda Butler, all testified in support of HB 5059. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card with a neutral position on HB 5059, but did not wish to speak: Troy Hagon, representing the Michigan Department of Transportation. The Chair laid SB 87 before the committee: SB 87 (Sen. Moss) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending section 234 (MCL 257.234), as amended by 2002 PA 552. Jennie Gies, representing the Office of State Senator Jeremy Moss, testified in support of SB 87. Erin Schor, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified in support of SB 87. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 87, but did not wish to speak: Kurt Berryman, representing the Auto Dealers of Michigan. Executive Director Brett Stanton, Director of Engineering Chuck Mills, President of the Board of Directors Gery Hartmann, and Vice-President Kirk Breukink, all representing the Asphalt Pavement Association of Michigan, provided a presentation on the Asphalt Pavement Association of Michigan and the Asphalt Industry. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Shannon adjourned the meeting at 11:23 AM.
