JASON M HOSKINS CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 17, 2023 9:00 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Economic Development and Small Business was called to order by Chair Hoskins. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hoskins, Grant, Neeley, Liberati, Coffia, Farhat, Miller, Tisdel, VanWoerkom, Martin, Roth, St. Germaine. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Coffia joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid HB 5096 before the committee: HB 5096 (Rep. Grant) A bill to amend 1996 PA 376, entitled "Michigan renaissance zone act," by amending sections 3, 4, 6, and 8a (MCL 125.2683, 125.2684, 125.2686, and 125.2688a), sections 3 and 8a as amended by 2010 PA 277, section 4 as amended by 2014 PA 27, and section 6 as amended by 2016 PA 118. Representative Grant and Josh Hundt, Michigan Economic Development Corporation Executive VP of Strategy, testified in support of HB 5096. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 5096, but did not wish to speak: Adam Carlson, representing the Michigan Health and Hospital Association. Representative Martus and Tyler Rossmaessler, Executive Director of Flint and Genesee Economic Alliance, testified in support of HBs 5099, 5100, 5101, and 5102. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Grant moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
