NATE SHANNON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, October 31, 2023 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure was called to order by Chair Shannon. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Coleman, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Absent: None. Excused: None. The Chair laid SB 533 before the committee: SB 533 (Sen. Geiss) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending sections 217, 222, and 233a (MCL 257.217, 257.222, and 257.233a), sections 217 and 233a as amended by 2022 PA 224 and section 222 as amended by 2014 PA 290. Representative Conlin moved to adopt the meeting minutes from October 24, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Brian Merlos, representing the Office of Senator Geiss, and Melissa Horste, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified in support of SB 533. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Coleman moved to report out SB 533 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 11-0-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Coleman, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Outman, Roth, Bruck. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Kunse, St. Germaine. The Chair laid SB 464 before the committee: SB 464 (Sen. McMorrow) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending section 803r (MCL 257.803r), as amended by 2023 PA 129 and by adding section 803s. The following person submitted a card with a neutral position on SB 464, but did not wish to speak: Melissa Horste, representing the Michigan Department of State. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 464, but did not wish to speak: Ron Brenke, representing the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan. Emily Collins, representing the Office of Senator McMorrow, testified in support of SB 464. Representative Hoskins moved to report out SB 464 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 9-0-4: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Coleman, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Outman. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine.
