YOUNG CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, November 8, 2023 2:32 PM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Families, Children and Seniors was called to order by Chair Young. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Young, Coffia, Glanville, Arbit, Edwards, MacDonell, Wozniak, Fox, Johnsen, Thompson. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Glanville moved to adopt the meeting minutes from October 17, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5148 and HB 5149 before the committee: HB 5148 (Rep. Grant) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," by amending sections 2829 and 2882 (MCL 333.2829 and 333.2882), section 2829 as amended by 1992 PA 248 and section 2882 as amended by 2020 PA 209. HB 5149 (Rep. Outman) A bill to amend 1939 PA 288, entitled "Probate code of 1939," by amending sections 27a, 27b, 67, and 68 of chapter X (MCL 710.27a, 710.27b, 710.67, and 710.68), sections 27a and 68 as amended by 2012 PA 385, section 27b as added by 1994 PA 208, and section 67 as amended by 1994 PA 373, and by adding section 27c to chapter X. Representative Outman, joined by Max Aulbach, representing the Office of Representative Grant, testified in support of HB 5148 and HB 5149. Questions and discussion followed. Rebecca Mastee, representing the Michigan Catholic Conference, testified in opposition to HB 5148 and HB 5149. Questions and discussion followed. Heath B.
