- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ETHICS AND OVERSIGHT REP. ERIN BYRNES CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 25, 2024 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Ethics and Oversight was called to order by Chair Byrnes. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Byrnes, Hope, Breen, Churches, Hoskins, Wegela, Kunse, Wozniak, Harris. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representatives Wegela and Harris joined the committee remotely. Representative Hoskins moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 18, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid the presentation from the Michigan Department of State before the committee. Deputy Secretary Aghogho Edevbie, and Virginia Henry, Director of the Driver Education and Testing Section, provided a presentation on the Oversight Process and State Regulation of Private Driving Schools. Questions and discussion followed. Chris Dimanin, representing himself as a former Drivers' Training Instructor, provided testimony on the Oversight Process and State Regulation of Private Driving Schools. Brandon Semrau, representing the Courtesy Driving School, provided testimony on the Oversight Process and State Regulation of Private Driving Schools. Questions and discussion followed. Ben Malburg, representing the Official Driving School and Providers, provided testimony on the Oversight Process and State Regulation of Private Driving Schools. Questions and discussion followed.
