- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON LABOR REP. JIM HAADSMA CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 7, 2024 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Labor Committee was meeting jointly with the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Economic Development, and Lifelong Learning. The House Committee on Labor was called to order by Chair Haadsma. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Haadsma, Mentzer, Koleszar, O'Neal, Andrews, Churches, Wegela, Wozniak, Mueller, Kunse. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representatives Andrews and Mueller joined the committee remotely. Representative Koleszar moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 29, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis. Emily Laidlaw and Robert Mass, representing MI LEAP, testified to the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis. Questions and discussion followed. Kathy Szenda Wilson, representing PULSE at Upjohn, Andy Richards, representing Duncan Aviation, Bronwyn Drost, representing Southwest Michigan First, Carrie Anderson, representing Morning Star Child Care, Alex Andrews, representing Talent First, and Carrie Rosingana, representing Capital Area Michigan Works!, testified to the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis. Questions and discussion followed. Chris Bennett, Katie Dunlap, and Roshni Shokar, representing Wonderschool, testified to the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis. Tyler Huntey, representing Huntey's Cluibhouse, testified to the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis. Matt Gillard, representing Michigan's Children, testified to the presentation on combating Michigan's childcare crisis.
