- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE REP. NANCY DEBOER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Education and Workforce was called to order by Chair DeBoer. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. DeBoer, Linting, Paquette, Fox, Kunse, St. Germaine, Pavlov, Koleszar, Weiss and Byrnes. Absent: Rep. Wilson. Excused: Rep. Wilson. Representative Linting moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 16, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4225 and HB 4229 before the committee: A substitute (H-1) was adopted for HB 4229 at the April 16th, 2025, meeting. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4225, but did not wish to speak: Jennifer Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Representative Linting moved to report out HB 4225 with recommendation. Cavitt) A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled "The state school aid act of 1979," by amending section 101 (MCL 388.1701), as amended by 2023 PA 103. HB 4141 (Rep. Tisdel) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1303a; and to repeal acts and parts of acts. Noah Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Psychologists. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4141, but did not wish to speak: Dwayne Gill, representing the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Representative Linting moved to excuse Representative Wilson from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
