- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ENERGY, COMMUNICATIONS, AND TECHNOLOGY REP. HELENA SCOTT CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, March 13, 2024 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Energy, Communications, and Technology was called to order by Chair Scott. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Scott, Andrews, Neeley, Steckloff, Byrnes, Churches, Hill, MacDonell, McFall, Wendzel, Outman, BeGole, Greene, Prestin, Schmaltz. Absent: Reps. Whitsett, Aragona. Excused: Reps. Whitsett, Aragona. Representative Neeley moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 6, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 366 before the committee: SB 366 (Sen. McCann) A bill to amend 1969 PA 165, entitled "An act to authorize the public service commission to establish and enforce gas safety standards; and to provide penalties for violations thereof," by amending section 11 (MCL 483.161), as amended by 1992 PA 11. Senator McCann testified in support of SB 366. Questions and discussion followed. Dan Scripps, chair of the Michigan Public Service Commission; Reka Holley-Voelker; governmental liaison for the Michigan Public Service Commission; and David Chislea, director of the Gas Safety and Operations Division at the Michigan Public Service Commission, testified in support of SB 366 and gave a power point. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Andrews moved to excuse Representatives Whitsett and Aragona from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
