MATT KOLESZAR CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 19, 2024 9:00 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Koleszar. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Koleszar, Churches, Shannon, Weiss, Glanville, Conlin, Edwards, Wegela, Greene, Paquette, Wendzel, Johnsen. Absent: Rep. Markkanen. Excused: Rep. Markkanen. Representatives Edwards and Paquette joined the committee remotely. Representative Wegela moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 11, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4089, HB 4092, HB 4095, HB 4096 and HB 5549 before the committee: HB 4089 (Rep. Meerman) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308h. HB 4092 (Rep. DeBoer) A bill to amend 2018 PA 435, entitled "An act to create the office of school safety and prescribe its powers and duties; and to provide for the powers and duties of certain state entities," (MCL 28.681 to 28.683) by adding section 2. HB 4095 (Rep. Young) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308d. HB 4096 (Rep. Puri) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308c. HB 5549 (Rep. Breen) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308c. Representatives Breen, DeBoer and Meerman and Jake Jelsema, representing the Office of Representative DeBoer, testified in support of HBs 4089, 4092, 4095, 4096 and 5549.
