NATE SHANNON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 14, 2024 10:30 AM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation, Mobility and Infrastructure was called to order by Chair Shannon. The Clerk read a letter from House Speaker Joe Tate which removed Representative Kimberly Edwards and appointed Representative Peter Herzberg to the Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure Committee. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Herzberg, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Farhat moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 23, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5223 and HB 5224 before the committee: HB 5223 (Rep. Rogers) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," (MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 79h. HB 5224 (Rep. Schuette) A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled "The code of criminal procedure," by amending section 12e of chapter XVII (MCL 777.12e), as amended by 2011 PA 59. Representative Conlin moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 5223. The motion prevailed 13-0- 0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Cheryl Khoury and Nick Mammel, representing Senator Damoose's office, Nate Love, representing Mackinac Island CVB, and Margaret Doud, Mayor of Mackinac Island, testified in support of SB 682. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 682, but did not wish to speak: Dennis Cawthorne. Representative Begole and Trent Atkins, representing Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, testified in support of HB 5341 and HB 5342. Questions and discussion followed.
