- Representative O'Malley moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 4, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4342 before the committee: HB 4342 (Rep. Paquette) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled"The revised school code,"by amending section 1233 (MCL 380.1233), as amended by 2018 PA 418. Representative Paquette offered the following amendment to HB 4342: 1. Amend page 6, line 10, after "TEACHER" by inserting "IN A SPECIFIC TEACHING ASSIGNMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN 14 DAYS WITHIN A SCHOOL YEAR". 2. Amend page 6, line 15, after "EMPLOYMENT." by inserting "IF THE BOARD OF A SCHOOL DISTRICT OR INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYS AN INDIVIDUAL UNDER THIS SUBSECTION TO SUBSTITUTE TEACH IN A SPECIFIC TEACHING ASSIGNMENT AND THE INDIVIDUAL SUBSTITUTE TEACHES IN THAT SPECIFIC TEACHING ASSIGNMENT FOR 14 DAYS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE BOARD SHALL NOT AGAIN EMPLOY THAT INDIVIDUAL OR ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL DESCRIBED IN THIS SUBSECTION TO SUBSTITUTE TEACH IN THAT SAME ASSIGNMENT DURING THAT SCHOOL YEAR.". Representative Paquette spoke to his amendment.
