- Representative Schroeder moved to adopt the meeting minutes from October 31, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5150 and HB 5151 before the committee: HB 5150 (Rep. Hoadley) A bill to create and operate a centralized reasonable accommodations program; to prescribe the duties and powers of certain state agencies and certain state officials; and to provide for the distribution of money. HB 5151 (Rep. Marino) A bill to amend 1969 PA 317, entitled “Worker’s disability compensation act of 1969,"(MCL 418.101 to 418.941) by adding section 539. Representative Jon Hoadley, the bill sponsor, explained HB 5050 and HB 5051, and submitted written testimony. Questions followed. Michelle Roberts, Executive Director for Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service, Incorporated, Miranda Grunwell, Community Education Coordinator, and Paul Ecklund, ADA Specialist and Systems advocate for Disability Network Southwest Michigan, testified in support of HB 5150 and HB 5151. Questions followed. Ms. Roberts written testimony is attached. Lauren Bake, Executive Director for Disability Network Oakland and Macomb, testified in support of HB 5150 and HB 5151. Representative Mark Huizenga, the bill sponsor, explained HB 5187 and HB 5188. Questions followed. Jennifer Smith, Director of Government Relations for Michigan Association of School Boards, submitted a testimony card in support of HB 5187 and HB 5188, .
