- Representative Linting moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 04, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid a presentation on student programs by SME before the committee. Rob Luce, Vice President of the SME Education Foundation, Dr. Shelley Wooley, the Director of Education Programs at SME, & Dr. Debra Volzer the Vice President of Workforce Development at SME gave a presentation on the student programs by SME. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 5364 before the committee: The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 5364, but did not wish to speak: Brenda Pilgrim, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Annie Monaweck, representing the Calhoun ISD. Dr. David Michelson, representing the Michigan Education Association. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 5364, but did not wish to speak: Katherine Bussard , representing herself. HB 5364 (Rep. Johnsen) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1278 (MCL 380.1278), as amended by 2016 PA 170.
