- following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: In a time where African Americans, Black Americans and people of color are requesting monuments and statues in honor or slave owners and racists to be removed and buildings to be renamed, I prefer not to name anything further after people whom we do not know their history or treatment of minorities.” Rep.
