Rep. Posthumus moved that the bill be given immediate effect. The motion prevailed, 2/3 of the members serving voting therefor. Rep. Paiz, having reserved the right to explain her protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: Laws already exist (they are second harshest in this nation) to address these concerns.” House Bill No. 4256, entitled A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 13m of chapter XVII (MCL 777.13m), as amended by 2016 PA 549. Was read a third time and passed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor, by yeas and nays as follows:
