The motion prevailed, 2/3 of the members serving voting therefor. Rep. Paiz, having reserved the right to explain her protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: I had planned on being a yes vote. However, I changed to a no vote when I realized that the hunter is not required to have a pistol license.” The Speaker Pro Tempore called Associate Speaker Pro Tempore DeBoyer to the Chair. Rep. Posthumus moved that House Bill No. 5197 be placed on its immediate passage. The motion prevailed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor. House Bill No. 5197, entitled A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled “Michigan campaign finance act,” by amending sections 7, 15, 24, 26, 51, and 54 (MCL 169.207, 169.215, 169.224, 169.226, 169.251, and 169.254), section 7 as amended by 2001 PA 250, section 15 as amended by 2015 PA 269, sections 24, 26, and 51 as amended by 2019 PA 93, and section 54 as amended by 2023 PA 244, and by adding section 34a.
