- Coffia Pohutsky In The Chair: Smit The House agreed to the title of the bill. Rep. Posthumus moved that the bill be given immediate effect. The motion prevailed, 2/3 of the members serving voting therefor. Rep. Paiz , having reserved the right to explain her protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: Increases the fee paid by the Liquor Control Commission to vendors of spirits and authorized distribution agents. I voted No because, according to House Fiscal Analysis, the bill would cost the state about $4 ‑ $5 million dollars in lost revenue. Given that our state budget will be a deficit next year, I’m trying to keep revenue loss to a minimum. If we were in better economic times, my vote would have been yes.” House Bill No. 4823, entitled A bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled “Michigan liquor control code of 1998,” by amending sections 105, 303, 526, 607, 609b, and 1025 (MCL 436.1105, 436.1303, 436.1526, 436.1607, 436.1609b, and 436.2025), section 105 as amended by 2022 PA 226, section 303 as amended by 2018 PA 154, section 526 as amended by 2020 PA 111, section 607 as amended by 2018 PA 417, section 609b as added by 2016 PA 81, and section 1025 as amended by 2019 PA 131, and by adding section 412.
