- Whereas, Trees are a renewable resource that provide paper, fuel, and wood for construction and other wood products; and Whereas, Trees in our cities increase property values, enhance the economic vitality of business areas, and beautify our communities; and Whereas, Trees, wherever they are planted, are a source of joy and renewal; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare April 28, 2023, as Arbor Day in the state of Michigan. The question being on the adoption of the resolution, The resolution was adopted. Third Reading of Bills Rep. Aiyash moved that Senate Bill No. 18 be placed on its immediate passage. The motion prevailed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor. Senate Bill No. 18, entitled A bill to amend 2003 PA 225, entitled “An act to designate March 31 of each year as Cesar E. Chavez day in the state of Michigan; to designate July 14 of each year as President Gerald R. Ford day in the state of Michigan; and to designate July 30 of each year as Henry Ford day in the state of Michigan,” (MCL 435.301 to 435.303) by amending the title and by adding section 4.
