- DeSana In The Chair: Pohutsky The House agreed to the title of the bill. Rep. Aiyash moved that the bill be given immediate effect. The motion prevailed, 2/3 of the members serving voting therefor. Rep. Steele, having reserved the right to explain her protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: This bill would ensnare innocent residents who are near a voting poll may unintentionally break the law if they walk or drive within 100’ of a polling location or a drop box. I introduced a substitute (H-5) for HB 4127 which would allow those who are able to carry a weapon to be able to drive, walk, or park within 100’ of a polling location without being in violation of this overreaching law.” House Bill No. 4128, entitled A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled “The Michigan penal code,” by amending section 234d (MCL 750.234d), as amended by 1994 PA 158.
