Senators Nesbitt and Brinks asked and were granted unanimous consent to make statements and moved that the statements be printed in the Journal. The motion prevailed. Senator Nesbitt’s statement is as follows: I rise to nominate my good friend Senator Joe Bellino as Associate President pro tempore of the Senate. As many of you know, Senator Bellino brings a jovial demeanor and resolute work ethic to serve in his role as a public servant here in the Legislature. He has steadfastly served the people of Michigan over the past several years in the State House, and I have full confidence in him that he will continue to do so in his new role in the Senate. Therefore, I enthusiastically and without reservation nominate Senator Joe Bellino as Associate President pro tempore. Senator Brinks’ statement is as follows: I second this nomination. Secretary of the Senate The President, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist, announced that the next order of business was the election of the Secretary of the Senate. Senator Brinks nominated Daniel Oberlin as Secretary of the Senate. Senator Nesbitt seconded the nomination. The question being on the election of Daniel Oberlin as Secretary of the Senate, The election was approved, a majority of the members serving voting therefor, as follows:
