Amend page 12, following line 5, by inserting: “ (9) From the appropriations described in subsection (1), $117,445,000.00 is appropriated from the state school aid fund for community college safety grants. Payments shall be made in an equal amount per full-year equivalent student, based on the most recently available enrollment data collected through the center for educational performance and information. Funds shall be used for safety infrastructure, including, but not limited to, cameras, door blocks, hardened vestibules, window screening, and technology necessary to operate alert systems and coordinate with local law enforcement. This may also include firearm detection software that integrates to existing security cameras to detect and alert school personnel and first responders to visible firearms on school property. ” and adjusting the totals in section 201 and enacting section 1 accordingly. The question being on the adoption of the amendment, Senator Lauwers requested the yeas and nays. The yeas and nays were ordered, 1/5 of the members present voting therefor.
