- Representative Marino moved to refer House Bill No. 4119 to the committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Lower, Marino, Crawford, Calley, Howell, Eisen, Meerman, Paquette, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Hope, Kuppa. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4055 before the committee: HB 4055 (Rep. Slagh) A bill to amend 1967 PA 288, entitled "Land division act, "by amending section 109 (MCL 560.109), as amended by 2017 PA 196. Representative Slagh and Amanda Price, the Ottawa County Treasurer and representing the Michigan Association of County Treasurers, testified in support of the bill. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of the bill, but did not wish to speak: Brad Ward, representing the Michigan Realtors Association. Judy Allen, representing the Michigan Townships Association. Meghann Keit, representing the Michigan Association of Counties. Cole) A bill to amend 1953 PA 181, entitled "An act relative to investigations in certain instances of the causes of death within this state due to violence, negligence or other act or omission of a criminal nature or to protect public health; to provide for the taking of statements from injured persons under certain circumstances; to abolish the office of coroner and to create the office of county medical examiner in certain counties; to prescribe the powers and duties of county medical examiners; to prescribe penalties for violations of the provisions of this act; and to prescribe a referendum thereon, "by amending section 5 (MCL 52.205), as amended by 2010 PA 108. Representative Cole and Meghann Keit, representing the Michigan Association of Counties, testified in support of the bill. Questions and discussion followed. Sandra McCormick, representing the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, submitted a card in opposition to the bill, but did not wish to speak.
