Representative Paquette moved to adopt the minutes from the February 5th, 2020 meeting. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 117 and SB 297 before the committee: SB 117 (Sen. Johnson) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending section 759a (MCL 168.759a), as amended by 2012 PA 523. SB 297 (Sen. Wojno) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," (MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 18a. Secretary Jocelyn Benson, the Michigan Secretary of State, testified in support of SB 117 (H-2) and SB 297. Questions and discussion followed. Liz Snell testified in support of SB 117 (H-2) and SB 297. Tripp Adams, representing Military Members & Frontline Civilians, testified in support of SB 117 (H-2) and SB 297. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 117 (H-2) and SB 297, but did not wish to speak: Mary Clark & Justin Roebuck, representing the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks, the Michigan Association of County Clerks, and the Council of Election Officials.
