Representative Cherry moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 15, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HR 118 before the committee: HR 118 (Rep. Weiss) A resolution to urge the Biden Administration and U.S. Department of State to act with the utmost urgency to secure the release of American journalist Danny Fenster from Myanmar and return him safely to the United States. Representative Weiss testified in support of her resolution. Bryan Fenster, brother of American journalist Danny Fenster, testified in support of the resolution. Rose and Buddy Fenster, parents of American journalist Danny Fenster, testified in support of the resolution. Vice-Chair Cherry gave a statement to the committee. The following people submitted a card in support of HR 118, but did not wish to speak: Scott Urbanowski. Lisa McGraw, representing the Michigan Press Association.
