- Representative Weiss moved to adopt the amendments to HB 5783 (H-1). The motion did not prevail 10-16-1: UNFAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Tate, Sabo, Tyrone Carter, Hood, Brabec, O'Neal, Rogers, Steckloff, Thanedar, Weiss. Nays: Reps. Albert, Whiteford, Allor, Brann, Frederick, Hornberger, Marino, VanSingel, Bollin, Glenn, Lightner, Maddock, Slagh, VanWoerkom, Beson, Borton. Pass: Rep. Yaroch. Representative Tyrone Carter offered the following amendments to HB 5783 (H-1): 1. Amend page 13, following line 22, by inserting: Legal investigation on the misuse of state funds 250,000 and adjusting the subtotals, totals, and section 201 accordingly. 2. Amend page 79, following line 6, by inserting: "Sec. 619a. The one-time funds appropriated in part 1 for legal investigation on the misuse of state funds shall be used for a contract with an outside legal firm for an investigation of any misuse of state funds for campaign purposes by the former speaker of the house or his staff. Upon completion of the investigation, the outside legal firm must provide a copy of the report to the speaker of the house of representatives, the house of representatives minority leader, and major Michigan media outlets.".
