- Representative Farhat moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5378 and HB 5379 before the committee: HB 5378 (Rep. Prestin) A bill to amend 1980 PA 119, entitled "Motor carrier fuel tax act," by amending section 1 (MCL 207.211), as amended by 2015 PA 178. HB 5379 (Rep. Hill) A bill to amend 1960 PA 124, entitled "An act to create the Michigan highway reciprocity board; to prescribe its powers and duties; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state and local governmental officers and entities; to allow certain reciprocal compacts, agreements, and arrangements; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts," by amending section 3 (MCL 3.163), as amended by 2022 PA 25. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5378 and HB 5379, but did not wish to speak: Henry Scienebeck, representing the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association. Michigan Forest Products Council. Representative Kunse offered the following amendment to HB 5378: 1. Amend page 4, following line 23, by inserting: "Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless House Bill No. 5379 of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into law.".
