- Representative Grant moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 27, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5529 before the committee: HB 5529 (Rep. Tyrone Carter) A bill to amend 2018 IL 1, entitled "Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act," by amending section 7 (MCL 333.27957), as amended by 2023 PA 166. At 10:36 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:36 AM, Majority Vice Chair Liberati called the committee back to order. Representative Tyrone Carter, and Derek Sova, representing the Cannabis Regulatory Agency, testified in support of HB 5529. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5529, but did not wish to speak: Manny Lentine, representing the Common Citizen. Kevin McKinney, representing the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association. At 10:43 AM, Majority Vice Chair Liberati laid the committee at ease. Cindy DeWolfe, representing the American Heart Association, and Alex Bowerson, a student whose life was saved by an AED, testified in support of HB 5527 and HB 5528.
