HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY REP. JAIME GREENE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, May 12, 2026 10:30 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Committee on Communications and Technology was called to order by Chair Jaime Greene. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Jaime Greene, Kunse, Wendzel, Schmaltz, Schriver, Fairbairn, Linting, Scott, Andrews, Arbit and Skaggs. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Linting moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 21, 2026. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5899 before the committee: HB 5899 (Rep. Jaime Greene) A bill to create an artificial intelligence governing board and prescribe its powers and duties; to require the creation of an artificial intelligence pilot program; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; to create funds; and to provide for the promulgation of rules. At 10:35 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:36 AM, Majority Vice Chair Kunse called the committee back to order. Representative Greene testified in support of HB 5899. Questions and discussion followed. At 10:46 AM, Majority Vice Chair Kunse laid the committee at ease. At 10:47 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Kevin Frazier, Senior Fellow, representing the Abundance Institute, testified in support of HB 5899. Questions and discussions followed. The Chair recognized the 2025 Bavarian Festival Princess Court from Frankenmuth, guests of Representative Beson. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Jaime Greene adjourned the meeting at 10:53 AM.
