- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON HIGHER EDUCATION REP. CAROL GLANVILLE CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, June 5, 2024 10:30 AM Room 352, House Appropriations, State Capitol Building The House Committee on Higher Education was called to order by Chair Glanville. The House Higher Education Committee was meeting jointly with the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and Community Colleges. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Glanville, Rheingans, Koleszar, Scott, Byrnes, Coffia, Hill, MacDonell, Paiz, VanderWall, Paquette, Zorn, Bruck, DeSana. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Koleszar moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 22, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Chair Glanville laid a presentation on the Growing Michigan Together Higher Education Subcommittee Recommendations before the Committee. Dr. Bill Pink, President of Ferris State University, Dr. Jim Sawyer, President of Macomb Community College, Ryan Bliss, Executive Director of the Michigan College Access Network, and Kevin Scott, President of TalentFirst, gave a presentation on the Higher Education recommendations from the Growing Michigan Together Council Report. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Glanville adjourned the meeting at 11:58 AM.
