The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Shannon, MacDonell, Conlin, Farhat, Fitzgerald, Hoskins, Miller, Herzberg, Outman, Roth, Bruck, Kunse, St. Germaine. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Hoskins moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 21, 2024. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5733 before the committee: HB 5733 (Rep. Tyrone Carter) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending the title and section 219 (MCL 257.219), as amended by 2018 PA 74, and by adding sections 820a and 820b. Representative Conlin moved to report out HB 5733 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 9-2-2: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Price) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending sections 252d, 320a, 707b, 707c, 707d, 732, and 907 (MCL 257.252d, 257.320a, 257.707b, 257.707c, 257.707d, 257.732, and 257.907), section 252d as amended by 2022 PA 89, section 320a as amended by 2023 PA 39, section 707c as amended by 2020 PA 382, section 732 as amended by 2023 PA 40, and section 907 as amended by 2024 PA 22. Klinefelt) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending sections 204a, 304, 312f, 320e, 732a, and 904 (MCL 257.204a, 257.304, 257.312f, 257.320e, 257.732a, and 257.904), sections 204a and 320e as amended by 2020 PA 376, section 304 as amended by 2023 PA 125, section 312f as amended by 2022 PA 193, section 732a as amended by 2018 PA 50, and section 904 as amended by 2020 PA 383; and to repeal acts and parts of acts. SB 799 (Sen. Klinefelt) A bill to amend 2008 PA 23, entitled "Enhanced driver license and enhanced official state personal identification card act," by amending section 4 (MCL 28.304), as amended by 2021 PA 72. Renee Watson, representing the Office of Senator Klinefelt, and David Handsor, representing the Michigan Department of State, testified in support of SB 706 and SB 799.
