The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:48 p.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss and Webber. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to adopt the meeting minutes from February 12th committee meeting. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the Bob Schneider, Senior Research Associate with the Citizens Research Council to present their August Innovation report, titled “State Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: How Public Policy Can Drive Economic Innovation.” Member questions followed. The Chair invited State Innovation Fund recipients to testify. The following individuals presented testimony: Kelly Sexton, Associate VP of Research, Innovation Partnership and Economic Impact with the University of Michigan Accelerate Blue Fund; Patti Glaza, Managing Director of ID Ventures; Steve Haakenson, Executive Director with WNU Biosciences Research and Commercialization Center. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Moss. to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Victory and Sen. Lindsey were excused from the meeting.
