The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Glanville, Rheingans, Scott, Byrnes, Coffia, Hill, MacDonell, VanderWall, Paquette, Bruck, DeSana. Absent: Reps. Koleszar, Paiz, Zorn. Excused: Reps. Koleszar, Paiz, Zorn. Representatives Paquette and Bruck joined the committee remotely. Representative Rheingans moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 17, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Stacie Behler, Chief Public Affairs and Communications Officer and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Grand Valley State University, and Kara Van Dam, Vice Provost, Graduate and Lifetime Learning, Grand Valley State University, gave a presentation on competency-based education. Questions and discussion followed. Representative VanderWall moved to excuse Representatives Koleszar, Paiz and Zorn from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Glanville adjourned the meeting at 11:11 AM. Robin Loft, the Post-Secondary Financial Planning Bureau Director, Diane Brewer, the Michigan Education Trust Executive Director, Diann Cosme, the Student Scholarship Grants and Outreach Executive Director, and R. Scott de Varona, the Student Loan Repayment Division Executive Director gave an overview presentation of their department. Questions and discussion followed.
