The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 43 (S-1) (Sen. Cherry) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Geiss, Sen.(s) Klinefelt, Wojno, Camilleri, Chang, McCann, Bellino, McBroom, Victory and Bumstead, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to adopt the meeting minutes from March 7, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Hertel was excused from the meeting. The Chair brought up SB 43 (S-1). The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 43 and (S-1): Jim deSpleder, County Road Association Self Insurance Fund – Support William Miller, Oakland County Board of Commissioners – Support James Sype, International Union of Operating Engineers - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Chang to report SB 43 (S-1) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Geiss, Sen.(s) Klinefelt, Wojno, Camilleri, Chang, McCann, Bellino, Victory and Bumstead Nays: Sen. McBroom The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair moved to recommend immediate effect for SB 43 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended.
